Eight women were arrested on solicitation charges at three township hotels and another establishment in Hanover Township.
A line of Route 46 hotels and one on Route 10 in Hanover Township were the targets of a Parsippany Police-led prostitution sting that led to multiple arrests within the past two weeks. The hotels involved in the investigation were the Howard Johnson Express Hotel, Days Inn and Red Roof Inn, all on Route 46, and the Route 10 Econolodge. According to a PPD statement, a joint investigation was initiated by Parsippany police and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office after officers received emailed complaints involving prostitution occurring in area hotels. The New Jersey Attorney General and the state Division of Consumer Affairs have filed suit against the Parsippany Days Inn and five other businesses for alleged illegal price gouging during the declared state of emergency for Superstorm Sandy. The six filings are the third group of lawsuits brought by the Attorney General and Consumer Affairs following investigations of complaints filed by consumers. The state has filed suit against 24 New Jersey businesses overall—13 hotels/motels and 11 gas stations—for alleged storm-related price gouging. The Parsippany Howard Johnson was accused of price gouging in early November. One year in age made the difference for two Parsippany teenagers arrested in connection with parked-car burglaries at the Days Inn Motel at 3159 Route 46 in the early morning of June 14. One, Elmedhi Ouljama, 18, faces adult charges including burglary and theft of movable property, according to Parsippany Police. Charges are pending against the other teen, who is 17 years old. Under law, he cannot be identified and is treated as a juvenile. Both were found in possession of various items reported stolen from vehicles in the Days Inn's parking lot, police said.
