A Parsippany Police probe lead to the arrest Tuesday night of an 18-year-old Lake Hiawatha resident allegedly found to be in possession of 30 bags of heroin. Police say Tolga Gezer was taken into custody at about 8 p.m. Tuesday near Knoll Gardens Apartments after he was found with the heroin. The man faces a charge of heroin possession with the intent to distribute the substance. The arrest comes as part of an ongoing investigation by the PPD's Investigative Division into the distribution of controlled substances within the township, according to a police statement. Parsippany man is being held on $175K bail at the Morris County Jail for allegedly planning to sell controlled substances in a school zone.
Parsippany Police report a weeks-long investigation into a suspected drug distribution effort in a school zone resulted in a raid and arrest last Friday at the home of a local man. Police say approximately $87,000 in illegal substances including marijuana, cocaine and Ecstasy was recovered. The PPD's Investigative Division launched a probe several weeks ago after gathering information about controlled substances being sold within the township, according to a police statement. Parsippany Police report a 22-year-old Parsippany man was arrested after being found with suspected marijuana cigarettes and related materials early Monday. Bryan A. Merida faces a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a police report. Police said Sgt. Thomas Pomroy saw a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on North Beverwyck Road at about 12:30 a.m. After stopping the vehicle at Norman Avenue, the officer reportedly discovered rolling papers, hollowed-out cigar wrappers and two hand-rolled cigarettes containing suspect marijuana in the vehicle. A 37-year-old Ledgewood man was arrested in the township after being found in possession of heroin and crack cocaine Tuesday night, according to the Parsippany Police Department. Police said officers Jason Ferreira and Michelle Kardos conducted a motor vehicle stop in the parking lot of 350 New Road shortly after 8 p.m. and came in contact with Arthur Nadeau, of Ledgewood. A random check of the vehicle’s license plate revealed that Nadeau was driving with a suspended license, police said. He was also found to have an active arrest warrant issued for him out of Mendham Township, police said. Brian Morrison was charged last week with possession of a prescription legend drug without a prescription, possession of a hallucinogenic drug, theft (of a laptop), distribution of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and employing a person under 17 years of age to distribute a controlled dangerous substance. Area colleges report most security issues involve the use of alcohol and drugs
Liquor and drug violations far outpace any other illegal activity on four Morris County college campuses, according to annual reports filed by the schools. The reports are filed under the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act by the College of St. Elizabeth, County College of Morris, Drew University and Fairleigh Dickinson University (Florham Campus). The reports are available to the public at each school. In 2010, the latest figures available, Drew recorded 287 liquor law violations that were referred for college disciplinary action or judicial review as crimes, and 12 drug arrests. Morris County Prosecutor Robert A. Bianchi will be named "Prosecutor of the Year" by the New Jersey Narcotic Enforcement Officers Association Tuesday. The award will be presented at a ceremony during the group's 42nd Annual Conference at the Hilton Hotel in Atlantic City. The conference continues through Friday. According to the association, Bianchi was picked because of his "significant overhaul of the investigative mission of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office." It notes Bianchi, who was appointed to the prosecutor post in 2007, created his office's Intelligence Crime Task Force, under the same command structure as its Special Enforcement Unit.
