5th annual employment outreach event takes place May 1.
The Parsippany Area Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for its fifth annual Job Fair. “Our Job Fair has a reputation for the last four years in providing outstanding service to our residents, businesses and volunteers in the Parsippany area at no charge," said PACC President Robert Peluso. "This is another example on how we strive to give back to our community.” The Parsippany Holiday Inn will be the site of the 2013 event, which takes place Wednesday, May 1, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Peluso said he's proud to invite everyone to attend. The chamber president noted that the fair has an important purpose—matching businesses that need workers with qualified people looking for employment. Barbara Kimmich says the job market is gaining momentum and that prospective workers should consider temp work.
Job seekers and business owners looking for quality workers have a new person to turn to for help. Human resources and staffing industry expert Barbara Kimmich is now in charge of Parsippany's LLoyd Staffing. Kimmich, who resides in Newton, said her background in recruitment, placement and client services will serve her well as LLoyd's new executive director. As experience, she cited managing "several staffing industry operations" and working as a human resources and recruiting specialist for O’Connor Hospital in San Jose, Calif. PACC presented a free employment outreach event for the community last Tuesday.
Nearly 40 local people seeking jobs attended a Parsippany Area Chamber of Commerce event designed to help them with their employment search efforts. "How to End the Job Search Pain and Get Your Life Back" was held at Centenary College in Parsippany last Tuesday. The event was part of the PACC’s free workforce development series offered throughout the year. Tuesday's event gave job seekers information on organizing and accelerating their career searches, marketing themselves to potential employers and gaining the confidence needed to find work. The popular burger restaurant said it will bring 60 new jobs to the township.
The Smashburger chain is headed to town come September, and with it will come 60 new jobs. The restaurant will open its 11th branch at 1103 Route 46 East. “We are pleased to announce our new Smashburger location coming to the Troy Hills Shopping Center in Parsippany,” said Scott Gillman, CEO of Mascott Corporation. “Our continued expansion is proof positive that consumers want a better burger experience. We are committed to providing high quality burgers, fries, shakes and more and look forward to becoming a partner of the community.” The opening means jobs: The chain said it needs to hire cashiers, cooks and shift supervisors.
