Driver Killed in I-80 Crash in Parsippany

West Milford woman died early Sunday morning when her SUV hit sound barrier, State Police said.

The driver of an SUV was killed early Sunday when she veered off Interstate 80 and crashed into a sound barrier on the side of the highway in Parsippany, according to State Police Sgt. Adam Grossman. Police identified the driver as 30-year-old Jennifer Wyatt of West Milford. Wyatt was travelling westbound on I-80 through Parsippany when she drove her Chevy Trailblazer off the side of the road and collided with a sound barrier at about 12:45 a.m., police said. It was not immediately known what caused the accident. A passenger, David Olsen of Lake Hopatcong, was transported to Morristown Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The accident was still under investigation later Sunday morning.

Parsippany Man Killed After Tree Crushes Car in Crash

53-year-old drove onto Route 46 median and hit tree at the intersection of Baldwin Road.

A 53-year-old Parsippany man was killed Friday evening after he struck a tree that then fell on his vehicle on the Route 46 median at the intersection of Baldwin Road, Parsippany Police said. The driver of the Honda Civic was identified as Allen Van Seters, who was transported to St. Clare's Hospital in Denville where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving, Parsippany Police said Monday. According to police, a witness said Van Seters was driving westbound on Route 46 when he drove up the median that separates the highway from the turning lane onto Baldwin Road. The witness said the Civic struck a tree, which then fell onto the vehicle Friday at about 5 p.m., police said. Officer Alfred Keiser and Det. Edward Conklin were able to …

AUDIO: The Last Conversation With Air Traffic Control

'Severe icing' was reported at 14,000 feet.

Over the course of one minute and 42 seconds, several pilots reported icing conditions, with Air Traffic Control noting "severe" icing conditions at 14,000 feet. Pilot Jeffrey F. Buckalew asked about these conditions during the communications and then signed off. It would be the last communications he would make to Air Traffic Control before his plane, also containing a business associate, his dog, and his wife and two children, crashed onto Route 287 in Morris Township on Dec. 20.
