Snow Expected Starting Early Friday, Says National Weather Service

Morris County's Office of Emergency Management is keeping an eye on what's ahead.

The National Weather Service warns that snow is on the way again. The forecast for our area shows the white stuff likely after 1 a.m. Friday with new accumulation of less than a half inch possible. The snow should fall until about 9 a.m. and then turn into a mix of rain and snow and then simply snow. Another quarter to half inch of accumulation could appear. The precipitation likely may turn back into all snow after 11 p.m. Friday, with blustery winds and gusts up to 30 mph. Hurricane Irene Could Hit Parsippany Saturday Night

Now pummeling the Bahamas, Hurricane Irene could hit northern New Jersey Saturday or Sunday.

Hurricane Irene—presently a category three hurricane bombarding the Bahamas with rain and gusty winds—could roll into northern New Jersey late this weekend, if National Weather Service projections hold. The National Hurricane Center says Irene may hit New Jersey late Saturday or Sunday, with the storm potentially still at hurricane strength when it passes through. As of 11 p.m. Wednesday, Irene's maximum sustained winds were at 120 mph, with hurricane force winds extending up to 40 miles from the center. The storm is expected to intensify, perhaps even achieving category four status, as it makes its way through the north-northwest and then moves north today.
