Ex-Firefighter Accused of Arson Charged With Neglect

Suspended sheriff's officer and his wife were allegedly drunk and arguing with infant in car.

A former township firefighter—accused of arson and indicted earlier this year on official misconduct and drug offenses—and his wife were charged with child neglect Wednesday after allegedly being drunk and arguing with their infant inside a car in a Route 46 supermarket parking lot, Parsippany Police said. Jason Campbell, 34, and Jennifer Campbell, 33, both of Parsippany, were each charged with child neglect. Jennifer Campbell was also charged with obstruction for allegedly resisting arrest and assaulting two officers while being placed under arrest, according to Officer Earl Kinsey, a spokesman for the police department. Indictments Handed Down for Ex-Parsippany Firefighter

Jason Campbell faces charges including official misconduct and drug possession.

A Morris County grand jury Thursday indicted a suspended county sheriff's officer and former Parsippany assistant fire chief on charges of official misconduct, drug possession and other offenses, reported NJ.com. The indictment against Jason Campbell, 33, is connected to his arrest in Hanover last March after being caught during a traffic stop with oxycodone in his pickup truck. Some Charges Dismissed Against Ex-Firefighter

Judge throws out aggravated arson, burglary and official misconduct charges.

Three charges of aggravated arson, burglary and official misconduct contained in a 10-count indictment against a former Parsippany firefighter were thrown out by a Sussex County judge Friday, according to the Daily Record. Suspended Morris County Sheriff’s Officer Jason Campbell, who was recently arrested with his wife on drug charges, also had his bail lowered on those charges, which was set at $200,000. Campbell will be released on his original $75,000 property bond, but will need to submit to weekly urine monitoring, the Daily Record reporter. For the full story, click here.

The former Parsippany firefighter and suspended Morris County Sheriff's officer who was on bail on arson charges when he was arrested on drug charges last week has been refused a lower bail on his most recent arrest. According to a report by NJ.com, Superior Court Judge N. Peter Conforti would not consider lowering Jason Campbell's $200,000 bail, saying it must be formally filed on Campbell's behalf because the arrest happened while he was already on bail. Jason Campbell, 33, who was indicted last July on burglary, arson and official misconduct charges, was charged Friday night with third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance, third-degree conspiracy to possess a controlled dangerous substance, second-degree official misconduct and fourth-degree impersonating a police officer.
