Route 46 Deemed 'Most Dangerous Road' in Morris County

Six pedestrians struck and killed on highway in three years, including four in Pine Brook, Parsippany area.

Route 46 has been labeled "Morris County's most dangerous road" by the Tri-State Transportation Campaign (TSTC) based on data that shows six pedestrians were killed on the highway in the past three years. What appears to be the most dangerous stretch of the Morris County portion of the highway, as indicated on a map included in the TSTC report, is the portion that includes Pine Brook and Parsippany. Four out of six pedestrian deaths between 2009 and 2011 occurred between the two towns. The report, generated by the non-profit organization which seeks transportation reform in New York and New Jersey, detailed and designated a single most dangerous road per county in every county in the state. I also wrote to the DOT..Besides three cars being able to get thru that light during the morning, noon, and night..its a hazard for people trying to cross or for cars trying to leave work and to route 80. Its enough already...change the way the lights work. It is archaic..but what else is new when the DOT doesnt send their people out to check this.
