Pedestrian Struck By Vehicle, Trapped Underneath

Police say a 31-year-old Parsippany resident was pulled from beneath a van by an unidentified motorist.

Parsippany Police say they are investigating a Saturday evening incident at the Raceway gas station at 2140 Route 10 west in which a local man was struck by and caught beneath the vehicle he was driving. Department spokesperson Ptlm. Earl Kinsey reported that a 31-year-old Parsippany resident pulled into the Raceway station just as the van he was driving ran out of gas. "As he began to attempt to push the vehicle up the incline towards the pumps, the vehicle started to roll backward down the incline," Kinsey said. "The man became caught between the open driver’s side door and the body of the vehicle. Pedestrian Killed On Route 10 ID'd as Morris Plains Man

64-year-old was struck near Yacenda Drive in Parsippany last month.

A 64-year-old Morris Plains man has been identified as the pedestrian who was struck and killed on Route 10 in Parsippany last month. Richard Oberst, whose last known address was in the Mountain Club condominiums on Route 10, was struck by a vehicle on Dec. 22 on Route 10 westbound near Yacenda Drive at about 2 a.m. Oberst was transported to Morristown Medical Center by Parsippany Volunteer Ambulance and paramedics from St. Clare’s Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, Sgt. Yvonne Christiano said. According to a police statement, the driver of the vehicle that hit Oberst stopped at the scene and no charges have been filed. Pedestrian Struck, Injured in Route 10 Accident

Parsippany police were investigating the accident that sent one man to the hospital in unknown condition early Saturday morning after he was hit by a car.

A pedestrian was taken to the hospital early Saturday morning after getting hit by a car at Route 10 West and Yacenda Drive, authorities said. The call came in at 1:54 a.m. Saturday, according to Parsippany police, who were unable to release the male victim’s name because his family hadn’t yet been notified. The victim was taken to Morristown Medical Center, where his condition was not known, police said. The investigation into the accident is ongoing, according to police.

Man Cited for Striking Pedestrian in Lake Hiawatha

The Parsippany Police Department reports a township resident was cited after allegedly striking a pedestrian on North Beverwyck Road Wednesday night.  According to police, Officer David Roman was called to the scene of a motor vehicle collision with a pedestrian in Lake Hiawatha at about 10:50 p.m. The male victim reportedly was walking north on North Beverwyck Road and attempted to cross Mara Road in the crosswalk. Police said the walker was almost to the opposite curb when a vehicle driven by Venkatasu Swaminathan, 43, allegedly made a left turn onto Mara Road and hit him.
