Chain restaurant offers special dishes for the Irish-themed celebration.

For St. Patrick’s Day everyone turns Irish!  Even Applebee’s iconic red apple is going green, and the restaurant will offer special dishes and drinks for all who are Irish or Irish at heart. The celebrating starts Friday, March 15 and runs through Sunday, March 17 at Applebee's Neighborhood Grill and Bar in Parsippany.   "In honor of St. Patrick’s Day people wear green, go out and have a good time and, of course, eat corned beef and cabbage while enjoying a draft or two," said Kevin Coughlin, director of operations for Applebee’s New Jersey. "So, Applebee’s, which is operated by Doherty Enterprises, is honoring those traditions with food and drink specials served up just for the occasion,"    All weekend long, Applebee’s St. Patrick’s Day …

Olympian Marks Opening of Parsippany Smashburger

The 11th New Jersey location held a ribbon cutting Thursday.

After a successful invitation-only pre-opening event held Monday, the new Route 46 Smashburger is open to the public. U.S. Track Olympian Julie Culley was among those to flip the first burgers on Thursday. The restaurant, which specializes in burgers, chicken sandwiches and milkshakes, marked the occasion with a grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony. The Parsippany Area Chamber of Commerce helped with the event. Mascott Corporation, which owns all 11 New Jersey locations of the chain, is a new PACC member, CEO Scott Gillman said. The Par-Troy branch has hired 40 employees, said PACC board member Ildiko Peluso. Gillman said the company places a priority on promoting employees from within. The Parsippany Smashburger is located in the Troy …

Par-Troy Fuddruckers Gets a New Neighbor

Sonoma Chicken Coop is coming to Parsippany.

A new chicken restaurant is coming to the township. After more than three years of planning, Sonoma Chicken Coop, a chain of California-based restaurants, will open the doors of its new Parsippany location next door to Fuddruckers at 3159 Route 46. Construction is in progress at the site, but the bright yellow marquee sign announcing Sonoma's specialties—grilled, rotisserie and sauteed chicken—is a clue that the opening is imminent. Also posted prominently on the building is a sign announcing that hiring for the restaurant is underway. A corporate spokesperson for Sonoma Chicken told Patch that every branch of the eatery is individually owned. In the case of the Par-Troy branch, it is owned by Fuddruckers, with whom it will share real …

Houlihan's to Move Into Former Chili's Location

Planning Board OKs application to place new chain restaurant on Route 46.

The vacated building at 1540 Route 46, which once housed the Southwest-themed restaurant Chili's will have new life soon as Houlihan's Restaurant and Bar. Just weeks after Patch asked readers what they wanted to see fill the space Chili's left behind last year, the Parsippany Planning Board Monday approved a minor site plan from Hasbrouck Heights-based ACE Restaurant Group, which owns Houlihan's, to allow the new eatery to take over the property. Board member Robert Keller told Patch that the approval came very quickly, largely because he said ACE plans to make very few changes to the site. "They will be squaring off the two front corners of the building, which are currently rounded," he said. "They are also adding a few more seats.  …

Maddy's Mexican Grill: The Product of Hard Work

Authentic Mexican restaurant opened on Mother's Day.

Hard work has run in Luz Matos’ family since before her father came to the U.S. from Mexico 20 years ago. Now, she and her family have put that hard work into a venture that incorporates their past, present and future goals. That venture is Maddy’s Mexican Grill, located at 52 N. Beverwyck Road in Lake Hiawatha. Maddy’s combines authentic Mexican cuisine with pizza creations that recall back to her family’s history working in pizzerias. “My mom always wanted to open up a restaurant, not a pizzeria," Matos recalled. "What we did was we worked hard, we got the loans, we opened up the space and so far it’s gone pretty well. "It was because he worked so hard that we wanted to give them the opportunity to own their own restaurant and try to …

Indian Restaurant Comes to Space Eyed by Giudices

Amiya, a modern Indian restaurant is opening on Route 46 in Parsippany where Teresa and Joe Giudice almost opened their own restaurant, Villa Di Vino.

An upscale, modern Indian restaurant is preparing for a soft opening this weekend on Route 46 in Parsippany where two Montville Township cast members from "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" had a different vision for the location. Amiya Parsippany is opening at 252 Route 46 West. The original Amiya is still open in Jersey City after launching about seven years ago. Before Amiya, the Route 46 location housed Rigoletto, What's Your Beef steak house and Villa Domenico. But at one point reality TV star, best-selling author and Montville Township residents Teresa Giudice and her husband Joe Giudice had a different vision for the location. (Read about Teresa Giudice's appearance on "The Celebrity Apprentice" here.) "Me and Tre are actually …
