West Milford woman died early Sunday morning when her SUV hit sound barrier, State Police said.
The driver of an SUV was killed early Sunday when she veered off Interstate 80 and crashed into a sound barrier on the side of the highway in Parsippany, according to State Police Sgt. Adam Grossman. Police identified the driver as 30-year-old Jennifer Wyatt of West Milford. Wyatt was travelling westbound on I-80 through Parsippany when she drove her Chevy Trailblazer off the side of the road and collided with a sound barrier at about 12:45 a.m., police said. It was not immediately known what caused the accident. A passenger, David Olsen of Lake Hopatcong, was transported to Morristown Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The accident was still under investigation later Sunday morning.

Middlesex County man allegedly struck a tractor trailer, tried to flee police on I-80 and I-287.
Morris County Park Police arrested a Middlesex County man who they said was under the influence of PCP after he allegedly led cops on an “erratic” chase on Interstate 80 Wednesday night. Jose A. Vazquez, 25, of Dunellen, was charged with second-degree eluding, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, driving under the influence of drugs and 14 additional motor vehicle violations. He was sent to the Morris County Correctional Facility in lieu of $150,000 bail with no 10 percent option. County and local HAZMAT teams were on the scene of a large fuel spill on Route 287 Thursday evening, just past the ramp of Route 80, in Parsippany, where a state police dispatcher from the Totowa station said about 40 gallons of diesel fuel leaked on to the roadway around 5 p.m. It was unknown whether traffic would be shut down because of the spill. The dispatcher said a diesel truck carrying about 90 gallons of diesel fuel was leaking fuel on to the roadway when it pulled over on Route 287, but that no crash occurred and no injuries were reported. State police also said local fire departments were on the scene, as well as a tow truck. No further information was available.

Traffic was slowed in all but the left lane of Route 80 in Parsippany by the exit for Route 287, mile marker 43.4, Monday morning due to a one-car accident where no serious injuries have been reported, according to New Jersey State Police. The accident occurred around 10:45 a.m. A police dispatcher said he did not have information about whether there were any passengers in the vehicle or information about the driver, but said the accident occurred near the construction zone. Police also said the car is being towed from the area. No additional information was available.

New trouble spots arise on state highways as Irene impact fades.
Transportation trouble spots cropped up across the region Tuesday as flooding blocked highway ramps, while sinkholes and road collapses closed sections of local roads. At the same time, some flooded roads, particularly routes 10 and 46 in Denville were reopened, according to the state Department of Transportation. All the local situations in eastern Morris County were overshadowed by the collapse of the right lane of Interstate 287 North in Boonton between exits 43 and 45. The collapse closed the northbound side of the major highway until further notice.
