Parsippany lawyer steps away from county freeholder board to make a bid for clerk's position.
Parsippany resident Ann Grossi has had a number of titles: lawyer, councilwoman, Morris County freeholder. Now, she is giving up her freeholder seat to run for another position: Morris County Clerk. With Joan Bramhall's Friday announcement that she will not run for a fourth term, three area Republicans have indicated interest: Morristown Assemblyman Michael Patrick Carroll, county Freeholder Douglas R. Cabana, of Boonton, and Grossi. A fourth candidate, Jefferson Township Councilman Michael Sanchelli, also expressed interest, Morris County GOP Chairman John Sette told PolitickerNJ. "It's a different focus than being an elected official in a legislative or policymaking capacity," Grossi said of the shift between freeholder and clerk. "I …

The commendation is named in honor of the late 26th District Assemblyman Alex DeCroce.
Gov. Chris Christie presented the first Alex DeCroce Leadership Award to former Morris County Freeholder John Murphy Wednesday afternoon in Whippany. The presentation was made before the Morris County Chamber of Commerce at Birchwood Manor in Whippany. Murphy is the first recipient of the award created to honor veteran 26th District Assemblyman and Republican Minority Leader Alex DeCroce, who died suddenly in January. DeCroce, a Parsippany resident, was succeeded by his widow, current Assemblywoman BettyLou DeCroce. Ironically, Murphy is an old political rival of the governor's. In 1997, then-Freeholder Christie was challenged for his seat by Murphy, who pulled off the upset. Christie ended up filing a defamation of character lawsuit …

Councilman John Cesaro hopes for the best on Election Day.
The gymnasium at Eastlake Elementary School is practically empty, save for a couple of voting booths, two poll workers and Parsippany Town Council member John Cesaro. The councilman is there to cast what will be only the day's 44th Republican primary election vote at the school. Chances are he cast that ballot for his own campaign for a seat on the Morris County Board of Freeholders. "I'm just trying to stay busy today," Cesaro said, noting that he did some paperwork for his law practice and noshed on a giant hoagie. "Tomorrow we start a healthier diet." The councilman said he'd wished for a larger turnout. "I guess all the excitement will be for the general [election in November]," he said. "I hope I'm involved in it." In order to qualify…

Parsippany councilman announces run for county freeholder
Parsippany Township Council member John Cesaro announced Tuesday that he's running for a seat on the Morris County Board of Freeholders. "I love Morris County. I want to raise my family here," Cesaro told Patch. "I feel I've done a lot for Parsippany, so I want to take my skills to the next level. Cesaro has already found a political home on the Morris Conservative Team ticket for the June primary election along with former Washington Township Mayor John Krickus and David Scappicchio, a former mayor of Mount Olive. The race, which could end up featuring William "Hank" Lyon, who almost won a seat on the freeholder board during a still-disputed contest with recenly ousted Freeholder Margaret Nordstrom. Cesaro appears to have a well of …

Doug Cabana is a nasty little man on an ego trip. I wouldn't vote for him if he ran for dog catcher!   more ›
