$80K in Loot Stolen While Homeowner Showered

Rare coins, jewelry taken from Lake Hiawatha home, police said.

More than $80,000 in rare coins and jewelry were stolen from a Lake Hiawatha home while the homeowner was showering early Monday morning, Parsippany Police said. Police said officers were called to the Norman Avenue home at about 1:30 a.m. Monday to investigate a report of a burglary. The homeowner told officers that after he had taken a shower, he walked into the kitchen and saw that the door leading from his kitchen to his basement was open, police said. Also reported being left open was a door that leads into the house's garage from the basement and the exterior garage door, police said.
