UPDATE: Live Downed Wires Spark Tree Fire on Noble Street

A Jersey City Power & Light crew reports electricity has been restored in the area near Noble Street and Kings Court, where downed power lines ignited a tree Tuesday afternoon. According to firefighters from Parsippany-Troy Hills Fire District 6, gusting winds knocked down electrical wires that sparked against a tree in a wooded section of Noble Street, creating flames and smoke. The JCP&L crew shut off power and trimmed back the singed tree. Electricity was restored just after 4 p.m. Parsippany Police have reopened the section of Noble Street near the wooded area.
