Neighbors Assist After Lake Hiawatha Purse Snatching

Police seek a man between 5'7" and 5'10" wearing a light grey hoodie and jeans.

The Parsippany Police Department says it is on the lookout for a man in connection with a reported robbery and assault that took place Wednesday night in Lake Hiawatha. At about 8:56 p.m., a group of residents led officers to a woman at Wenonah Avenue whose screams compelled them to come outside and help, according to department spokesperson Ptlm. Earl Kinsey. The women reportedly told the police that she was walking on Wenonah Avenue when a man came behind her, grabbed her purse, knocked her to the ground and fled south toward Lake Shore Drive. Man Busted For Growing Pot After Finding Wife Dead

Rockaway man charged with running marijuana production facility after he called police to report finding his wife dead in their home.

A Rockaway Township man was charged with maintaining a drug production facility Tuesday when he called police to his Sanders Road home after finding his wife dead inside, authorities said. The cause of death of Donna Kent, 56, was under investigation Wednesday, but Acting Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp said an autopsy showed no indication of foul play. When police arrived at the house -- spurred by a 911 call from the woman's husband -- they smelled marijuana and applied for a search warrant, Knapp said in a release. Police found 30 pot plants in the house, Knapp said, some of which were hidden behind false walls. Also, $10,000 cash, a handgun and two shotguns were found in the home, Knapp said. Trespasser Had Outstanding Warrant, Police Say

Parsippany man not permitted on senior center's property found inside one of the apartments.

A township man found trespassing at a senior center Tuesday night had a warrant out for his arrest, Parsippany Police said. Joseph Stanel, 24, was taken into the custody of the Morris County Sheriff's Department after he was seen inside one of the Brookside Senior Center apartments on Parsippany Boulevard at about 10:30 p.m., Patrolman Earl Kinsey, a spokesman for the police department, said. Property managers told police that Stanel was not permitted on the site, Kinsey said. Stanel was found to have a no-bail arrest warrant issued for him by the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, Kinsey said.

Car Strikes Tree Off Route 46, Causes Delays

Vehicle went off roadway near Baldwin Road during Friday evening rush hour.

A car drove off Route 46 and struck a tree near Baldwin Road during Friday evening's rush hour. Shortly after 5 p.m., a dark green Honda traveling westbound on Route 46 ran into a thicket of brush and trees just ahead of the ramp to Baldwin Road. Parsippany Police called the accident "serious" that heavily slowed Friday evening  traffic in the area. PPD officers and investigators from the Morris County Sheriff's Office were on the scene. Police would not confirm whether the driver was injured in the accident.

Homeowner Foils Burglary Attempt, Police Say

Authorities continue to probe the incident.

Parsippany Police are investigating an attempted home burglary Tuesday night they say didn't happen thanks to an alert homeowner. Police said officers Alfred Keiser and John Keiling responded to a Rutgers Lane residence after receiving a report at about 11 p.m. of a man attempting to climb through the home's window. The homeowner reportedly heard a noise coming from her spare bedroom and went to check out the disturbance, police said. When she entered the room and switched on the light, police said she saw a man described as being 5-foot-7 and wearing a white shirt, tan pants and a hat. The man reportedly fled the scene through the window. Police said they had no additional descriptive information regarding the man. Police secured the …
