A Vermont flour company is coming to town to teach kids the wonder of making their own bread.
The King Arthur Flour Company of Norwich, Vt., wants to teach Parsippany kids the power of baking one's own bread. To pass on the traditional pastime, a company representative is going on tour next week to visit seven New Jersey schools to teach students how to bake fresh homemade bread from scratch through its Life Skills Bread Baking Program. On the itinerary are Northvail and Intervale elementary schools. “The Life Skills Program has three goals: learn, bake, share,” said Paula Gray, who manages King Arthur Flour's Life Skills program. “The cross-curricular program includes math, science, reading, following directions and more; baking is a practical application of those skills and students are eager to use and share their newfound …

Northvail Elementary School held its annual Winter Concert Wednesday, bringing holiday joy to students, faculty and staff in attendance. The during-school event featured performances by the school's instrumental bands, glee club, tone chimers and chorus. The show began with a performance by the Beginner Band. "It was amazing to hear how well the students sounded considering they have only been playing the instruments for a short while," said reading specialist Lorraine Esposito. The Advanced Band followed, performing a series of challenging pieces. The second half of the show included the glee club and tone chimers and ended with a performance by the chorus. Police ask anyone with information on incidents at Volunteers Park and Northvail School to contact authorities.
Parsippany Police are investigating two incidents of criminal mischief after graffiti was discovered last week at Volunteers Park and a window was found broken Monday at a township elementary school. A township Parks and Forestry Department employee discovered graffiti on the half-pipe skateboard ramp at Volunteers Park Friday morning, according to Parsippany Police. A second criminal mischief case, this time at Northvail Elementary School, is also the subject of a probe, police said. Just after 7 a.m. Monday, Officer Jermaine Pledger went to the school to interview a custodian, who said he discovered a door window on the north side of the building was broken, police said.
