Team will face Garfield in second round of NJSIAA games.
The Parsippany High School boys baseball team is moving on to the second round of the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Group 2 tournament after defeating Caldwell on Monday 5-3, according to the Star-Ledger. Parsippany, seeded 14, will now move on to face Garfield, seeded 6, on Friday in the second round of the tournament. Parsippany was able to gain a five-point lead after David Samuel gained two RBIs and a run and Nick Leitner had an additional RBI, according to the Ledger. The game was played in West Caldwell.

Performers Farewell Luna, Angelo DePuma and I Am Fighting helped raised funds to help those affected by Superstorm Sandy.
A fantastic night featuring musical acts by Farewell Luna, Angelo DePuma and I Am Fighting took place last Friday at Parsippany High School. All proceeds from the concert went to benefit those affected by Superstorm Sandy. Video on the Go captured the show. The Parsippany Board of Education's ad hoc committee on the high school athletic fields held its first meeting Saturday, March 16, to brainstorm ideas for making improvements to facilities at the township's high schools. BOE members and community volunteers holding a variety of points of view are part of the committee, which was formed after voters rejected the school board's $7.7 million fields improvement plan during the Jan. 22 referendum. At the gathering, the members determined that short- and long-term strategies were needed to accomplish the body's stated mission to make athletic refurbishments a reality. The can-do spirit of Elle, the main character in the film and Broadway show "Legally Blonde" seems to be contagious. The cast and crew of Parsippany High School's upcoming production of the stage musical are hard at work and filled with enthusiasm to make the show a hit, says a member of the stage crew. "The cast and crew has been working really hard for several months to put this show together," said Nicolas Limanov, who is helping the play behind the scenes. Teen's testimony supporting bill to ban ex-gay therapy for minors precedes Senate committee's 7-1 vote to recommend the measure.
Parsippany High School senior Jacob Rudolph took his mission to protect LGBT youth from ex-gay therapy to the state capital Monday. The 18-year-old testified before the New Jersey Senate Health Committee in support of S2278, a bill that would ban the use of controversial gay “conversion” therapy on minors. His testimony may have had an effect: The committee voted 7-1 with two abstentions to recommend S2278. The bill now heads to the full state Senate for consideration. Par High baseball fundraiser matches area families with delicious Italian fare.
The second annual Parsippany High School baseball pasta dinner at the Rockaway Neck District 5 firehouse Tuesday evening left attendees anything but hungry—and energized for the upcoming Red Hawks baseball season. A full house filled with wide smiles was present to nosh on penne and meatballs, salad and softdrinks or water. Among those in attendance was Red Hawks baseball coach Ken Dobkin. "This is going to be a good one," he said, referring to the forthcoming high school baseball season. " A lot of our guys are coming back. I'm excited!" The highly praised Philip McGuane takes over the struggling Red Hawks after former coach left under a cloud.
The Parsippany-Troy Hills School District announced officially late Monday the hiring of a new head football coach for the Parsippany High School Red Hawks. Philip McGuane is to take the post for the 2013-14 season. The 30-year high school football veteran succeeds Guy Bertola, who resigned under a cloud due to what he called a "falsification" on his resume discovered after his hiring in late summer 2012. The district's statement says McGuane spent 24 years as a high school head coach and three as an assistant coach. Par High student hopes a petition he is circulating will protect kids from "ex-gay" therapy.
Newly out and proud, a Parsippany LGBT teen is taking a stand to protect the dignity of all lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender New Jerseyans. After coming out in front of his classmates at Parsippany High School last month, a videotaped moment that went viral on YouTube, 18-year-old Jacob Rudolph is taking action to protect others. The teenager recently launched a new petition on Change.org urging Gov. Christie to support pending legislation in Trenton that would ban the use of controversial gay “conversion” therapy on minors.
