What to expect in the week ahead
Last week, the Parsippany Zoning Board of Adjustment began consideration of a long-underway effort to build affordable housing for veterans at Zandy's Acres on Old Dover Road. Monday, we'll learn more about the project and later in the week hear from the power behind the project, 83-year-old Seymour Zandell. He says he's taken on what could be a herculean task for one reason: "I'm a veteran." Tuesday brings March's Township Council agenda meeting, in which the panel of five will firm up the work for its March 19 business meeting. The session is open to the public and begins at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall. What to expect in Parsippany in the next seven days
Monday is the start of registration for kindergarten in Parsippany schools for 2013-14. Parents may enroll their 5-year-olds at their home school Monday from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Registration packets may be found on the school district website, or picked up in the Main Office of your neighborhood school. Should be a newsy week in Parsippany. On Monday, we'll have a profile of Jigar Shah, the township's new liaison to the Indian-American community. He will address the absentee ballot controversy, but more than anything, Shah gives us a glimpse into his life in Parsippany and why he's the mayor's choice to serve as a link between the Barberio administration and the town's second largest cultural group. Normally, the Parsippany Board of Education gathers on Thursdays, but this week, the meeting takes place Tuesday and in a special location, Parsippany Hills High School. Tabor branch at 31 Trinity Park presents Pre-Valentine Events Monday at 4:30 p.m. featuring opportunities to create holiday cards and other meaningful crafts for loved ones and for folks within Parsippany health care facilities. High schoolers can get an early leg up on the Scholastic Aptitude Test. An SAT Prep Course takes place at Parsippany High School Tuesday at 6 p.m. The course costs $599. School starts next week, so parents, this is your chance to give the kids a last-minute bit of summer vacation: The Junior Vikings Baseball Last Blast Summer Camp starts Monday and runs through the end of the week for players age 6-12.
