ReplyCongrats to Jonathan and his team. It is sad that people are focusing on the ethnicity of a candidate rather than his quality education (from Parsippany) and good ideas. Had you heard Mihir speak you would realize he is a very eloquent person who is needed on this council along with Mr Keller and Nelson as Mayor.

I find it ironic that none of the people have an issue with the Sons Of Italy ruling this town and bringing it down for years but if someone non-Italian seems to have a chance, race becomes an issue.

ReplyThis should not even be called a "Whole Foods" Plan. The Main building is a 130,000 square foot, yet to be named retailer that would be next to whole foods. The builder is using Whole Foods as a way in because many people do like the store. However, at 40,000 square feet Whole Foods pales in comparison to its 130,000 un-named neighbor. It could be a Target, Lowes, Costco, BJ, or any other major store but the developer won't name names at this point.

I believe it was over $500,000 a year and that some previous attorneys cost over $600,000. You can file an OPRA request for exact numbers.

ReplyI think that if the teachers would have gotten in line, and expressed their opinions to the board, whatever they may be, it would have set a greater point to the board and they would have had to listen. In addition, it would have sent a better example to students that communication can create more results then turning your backs and walking out when you don't agree. Let them hear you loud and clear if you want change.

ReplyI was at the meeting last night but left before the "walkout" took place, mainly because we could not hear what the board was saying. I do not currently have an opinion regarding the contract because I am not well enough informed on it as of yet. However, many of the meetings we attended prior to this night were nearly empty and without teachers. Pat - however is at almost every meeting and if teachers would have been at many of the previous meetings, they would have known that she is often working with the Board and many times arguing with them to try and accomplish things for the betterment of the kids education. Yes, she is concerned about tax dollars but she also cares about the students. When no teachers have been at meetings, she has been there raising points that many teachers would most likely be backing.

Maurice, Kind of hard to do when we do not know who did or did not receive the ballots. How do you inform people when you don't know who needs to be informed?

Beth, I was not referring to you - it was the clerks office that basically said too bad. They say it is in Newark's Post office hands.

It may be a "zero percent increase" right now. However, down the road, those pay increases, including his proposed 30% increase for the Police would leave to even larger pensions than the current ridiculously large pensions that we tax payers are paying for now.
