ReplyI'm not inclined to vote for any incumbent. I'm not happy with the past four years accomplishments and I believe all the incumbents are responsible for the situation. Also, these folks may be decent and hard working but I wouldn't know because they don't communicate much. This makes me even more suspicious of their contribution to the current situation. I'm looking for someone who believes in cooperation not confrontation, in communicating not hiding behind a desk.

Replyi will use the internet to buy things and miminize use of cards...and avoid merchants who charge that extra percentage, just as I do with purchasing gasoline. The only ones who make out on this are the banks...but 4% is way more than banks charge for the credit charge, so merchants are in effect getting up to 2% additional sales tax that they keep.

ReplyFrankly, none of the candidates campaigned much, if at all. In my almost 35+ years in Parsippany I've learned that it doesn't seem to make a difference who is on the board. I was asked once to finish out the term of a member who had been forced to resign. After two hours with "the committee" I realized what a mistake it would be to be consumed by the petty bickering and total disregard for the needs of students, teachers or voters. Apathy! You bet.

ReplyAny argument about increasing traffic is silly. Would you rather have a store that succeeds or one that is a failure. Any store that doesn't generate traffic is one that will surely fail.

ReplyWonderful. Let's put a lock on the barn door now that the cow is gone. This should be the law for all essential businesses...food, health, gasoline...and, for some, liquor stores.

ReplyAn example of poor communications. They know which areas but they won't say. People cannot make plans without reasonable information. This is unacceptable. Unacceptable from a utility and worse, politicians (our mayor) don't pressure the company to be more specific.

Having worked for another kind of utility I know how hard folks work in a crisis. It's not the folks out their busting their butts people are upset with. The absolutely poor job of communicating with the public is most of the problem. The credibility of the company is always subject to criticism when things don't go fast enough for people sitting in freezing homes. But, bad news or good, honest and accurate information and complete...I say complete....information and not parsed, double speak PR jazz would make things better. The communication from JCPL ranges from simply wrong to inaccurate and, I believe, just plain purposely vague information seems to be the rule, not the exception. They also need to get a community relations leader who is competent in crisis management.

I believe the communications part of the company is broken...seriously broken. It should be investigated by the press, if not the government. Their numbers never add up. Their comments too often are proven by events to be wrong. This is a sad excuse for a utility.

Coaches are teachers and motivators. Players are students, not military recruits. While the coach's behavior is ok in basic training for military personnel, it is inappropriate for an educator. This behavior is a reflection of the "win at all costs" culture in college basketball today. The coach needs to be educated on what is and isn't acceptable. While his actions are unacceptable, he is responding to external pressures, I think. We need to look at his chain of command...upward to find the answer. If, however, he was simply acting "in character"...like an "@#$hole", as one of his players said, then he deserves to be replaced.
