ReplyUmmm, JMK will not be hosting this next year, I can already assure you that. My company is already in negotiations. We run the Atlantic City one each year. JMK is a family run joke. Save that nonsense for plumbing supply shops.

ReplyJohn! We had a JCPL rep assess our damage last Tuesday. We asked him and he stated it was a transformer, quick fix. However, a week later nothing! We are at the corner of Morris and Ford. The street light is out creating a public danger. Its insanity trying to navigate that area now that traffic is returning to normal. Please if there's anything you can do, help!!

ReplyI see about three reasons why this place will fail:
1. Its main product, despite how full their menu is, will be pizza. That's just how pizza places are...they all have other meals and sandwiches...but they are pizza joints. And guess what? The Godfather will be the 7th pizzeria in town. Market share will be dismal.
2. Location! If they were interested in a lunch crowd, they would have done their research that there are no businesses in that area of town. If you work in an office in Morristown, you are walking to lunch...and you're looking around the Green. And for dinner? Perhaps some people hopping of the train around 6:30 or 7pm, but they don't sit down, they want to go home.
3. Prices. I have been to Godfathers several times in their East Hanover location. I have no complaints. The pizza is good, but no better than any place in Morristown. That being said, an immediate look at their prices will quickly price them out of competition. Chicken Parm sandwich @ Morris Pizzeria=$6.99 with free drink, same sandwich at the Godfather=9.89. -

Congrats on learning how to use Wikipedia! Now for what you don't know...Nothing is known of Crispus Attucks aside from that he was killed at the Boston Masacre and was of Native American/African descent. The Boston Massacre, if you bothered to look anything up at all, was actually a mob of colonists antagonizing five British soldiers. They stood trial for their actions. Guess who defended them? John Adams, our second President. By a jury of Bostonians they were declared not guilty. As for de Soto, my point was how deep in the history books to we have to dig to find people to honor. But enough of that. My point is that a monument is a ridiculous idea for this space and a garden would actually be utilized.

ReplyCrispus Attucks! Dear God...I haven't heard that name since 7th grade American History. I suppose Motown does have some pretty odd statues, like the Morris statue on a traffic island on the NW corner of the Green, so perhaps it would fit right in. However, Ms. Harris-King smacks of the old, "Oh, we had plans for the open space, ummm, ummmm, ummmm, oh yes....the Crispus Attucks monument was going to go there..." Give me a break. If you even look at census information for the 2nd ward, it is now dominated by people of Hispanic descent. If anything, why not have a de Soto statue? Wait! Why not, instead of putting statues up based on the predominant race in the area, put up something that everyone can share...like a, hmmmm...like a garden?

ReplyI have been a lifelong resident of Motown and I would have to actually agree with the opinion piece. There used to be a grit to Morristown...Cutter's, the old Henessey's, the music scene (yes, there was one), La Bakerie, Hamburger Depot...the list goes on. I am in my early thirties and the town really has lost a lot of what made it special. Now it's just Hoboken West with only half the things to do and way longer of a commute to the City. Twenty something's probably think its a paradise, but now I view it as yuppie central. It's a town that only consumes and does not produce. You need both for it to stay a great place to live.

Ummm, Dear "It's me kids". I'm not sure if you know how Patch works, but you can click on a username and find out all of that person's posts, date joined, etc... "Just sayin" is clearly not an employee of Tomato Pie if you go back through his post. You, on the other hand, are probably involved with Millie's. I was going to give Millie's a shot, but after this behavior, I'll save my money...for Tomato Pie. See how the internet works?
