Parsippany Group Fills Backpacks for Local Families

The donated school supplies will go to families in financial need.

With school starting up on Sept. 9, parents are rushing around gathering pencils, lunchboxes, notepads and more to fill their kids’ backpacks.

However, some families are not as fortunate and the Kiwanis Club of Greater Parsippany stepped up to the plate to help those in financial need. Members donated  school supplies to the Township’s social services department.

These supplies will be distributed to struggling families in Parsippany. “Our Kiwanis Club is interested in ensuring  that every child has a great start to the new school year,” said President Davey Willans. “We recognized that this is not possible if parents are worried about how to afford school supplies, so our members generously donated these items. One of our members even took (their) school-aged sons out to choose  backpacks and school supplies that they thought other children their age would like to use.”
