New Gourmet Coffee Shop Brews Alongside Music Store

The Daily Joe, attached to The Music Shop, will have its official ribbon-cutting ceremony Sunday after opening last month.

A new gourmet coffee shop is hosting its grand opening in town and no, it’s not another Starbucks. Better yet, it’s locally owned and if you’re a music fan, you’re in luck, too.

The Daily Joe opened on Oct. 8 at The Music Shop on Fanny Road and will have its official ribbon cutting with Mayor James Barberio Sunday from 1 – 3 p.m. This Parsippany business is located at 56 Fanny Road in Boonton.

The grand opening will feature one of their Music Instructors and his band and there will have tastings of their coffee drinks and teas at different times. Check back with Daily Joe’s Facebook page for taste times.

It took “about a year and a half after thinking of adding a coffee bar for our existing Music Shop Lesson customers” before they finally opened their doors in October, said Owner Tom Govelitz, adding that the “space was originally one of our Kindermusik rooms. Sinks, electrical, refrigerator, freezer and coffee equipment was added, according to Parsippany Code for a coffee shop.”

The owners of The Daily Joe and The Music Shop are Tom Govelitz and Nicholas Marino.

We “opened it for the existing Music Shop Lesson customers for them to be able to get a cup of coffee and have a place to wait during lessons,” said Govelitz.

However, what began as a simple idea, soon grew and took flight.

“When the process began, it escalated into a full coffee shop for enjoyment for others or a quick coffee stop.  We hope to have our current music lesson students play prepared music in the coffee shop as a way for them to perform in front of people and get that experience that will enhance their music lesson experience.  People can come, sit and relax and enjoy the free wi-fi too,” said Govelitz.

The coffee shop features lattes, smoothies, pastries and 12 different teas to choose from “and simply the best coffee you can buy,” according to their Facebook page. It’s good for groups and they offer catering as well.
